Joint Symposium of DFG FOR 1066 and DLR-Airbus C²A²S²E: “Simulation of Wing and Nacelle Stall”

Reliable simulations of flow separation on airfoils, wings and powered engine nacelles at high Reynolds numbers represent great challenges in defining suitable mathematical models, computing numerically accurate solutions and providing comprehensive experimental data for the validation of numerical simulations. Additional scientific problems arise from the need to consider airframe-engine interactions and inhomogeneous onset flow conditions as real aircraft operate in atmospheric environments with sometimes rather large distortions. The symposium aims to bring together scientists dealing with numerical simulations of these flows and researchers who contribute experimental work for validation. The participation of young researchers is encouraged. The exchange of ideas and results will be through 30 minutes presentations by the participants.  Invited lectures given by leading international scientists and engineers from industry and academia will highlight the current status in the field.

The organisers of the symposium will collect written manuscripts of the presentations and publish these as conference proceedings shortly thereafter.

One-page abstracts including the title and authors of the intended presentations should be submitted until 30.12.2009 to

The authors will be informed about the acceptance of their presentations by the end of January 2010. The detailed symposium schedule will be announced until the end of February 2010. Written manuscripts of the presentations of around 10 pages are due at the time of the symposium. There will be no symposium fees.
