The high vacuum plume test facility STG-CT of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) in Göttingen is a unique cryo-vacuum test facility. Its 10 m3 test section allows for the operation and investigation of satellite attitude control thrusters in a space-like vacuum environment. The aim of the experiments is to characterize the thruster plume expansion and its interaction with spacecraft components. The results of the tests are relevant to the design of attitude control systems and in-orbit manoeuvers and inform the choice of protecting sensitive surfaces and equipment against contamination or excessive heat load.
