The Go4Hybrid project aims to foster aeronautics RTD work in Europe by recognising merits and achievements of previous and existing EU projects in the field of turbulence research. Aiming at the mitigation of the “Grey Area” problem in hybrid RANS-LES methods and thus at improving the confidence in the use of turbulence resolving simulation methods, Go4Hybrid will allow for enhanced design processes in the aeronautical industry. Consequently, this will result in fewer design cycles, lower costs and reduced time-to-market of challenging future aircraft designs.
Accordingly the technical objectives of the Go4Hybrid project are to develop generally-applicable extensions to non-zonal hybrid RANS-LES models for mitigation of the Grey Area problem, to improve the flexibility of embedded hybrid RANS-LES methods and hence their applicability to complex industrial problems. Furthermore, Best Practice Guidelines (BPG) will be formulated to maximise exploitation and dissemination of the improved methods. Extending their capabilities and applicability and hence increasing industrial confidence, the Go4Hybrid project has the overall objective to increase the Technology Readiness Level of hybrid RANS-LES methods.
