In contrast to axial turbo machines, radial compressors use the centrifugal forces in their radial directed flows to reach a higher level of work. Their complex geometries and partially extreme operating conditions with very high rates of revolution und high exit flow temperatures, lead to complicated internal flow phenomena, that are difficult to simulate numerically and need highly developed measurement techniques. The development of these techniques and numerical methods play a key role in our work.
