Career Information

We are looking for students in engineering as well as applied mathematics or science with fundamental knowledge in numerics and fluid mechanics.

Our department has been developing and applying the CFD-code TRACE for almost two decades to evaluate steady and unsteady flows in aircraft engines and gas turbines. More than a dozen universities and companies use TRACE for scientific questions or designing modern compressors and turbines. TRACE is applied to multi disciplinary topics involving

  • Aerodynamics
  • Aeroacustics
  • Aeroelastics
  • Coupling of flow and structure
  • Optimisation methods

Topics for current open positions

  • Transition modeling in turbomachinery
  • Development and application scales resolution simulations in the turbomachinery
  • Low Mach preconditioning for the compressible Navier-Stokes equations
  • Development of a solver library for solving systems of linear equationsAerodynamics

Overview of student activities

  • Implementation and application of new models for the numerical modelling of turbomachinery flows like e. g. turbulence, transition, boundary conditions, etc.
  • Validation of implemented numerical models
  • Extensions of pre- und postprocessing tools

Please address your applications and general questions concerning master theses, work experience, or internships in our department to the infoportal.
