To allow the further increase of air traffic and to achieve the ACARE2020 goals the noise emanating from jet engines has to be decreased considerably. The main subject of this project is to reduce the noise generated by the fan, the combustion chamber and the turbine in all phases of a flight (take-off, overflight, and landing). In the framework of this project the department Numerical Methods develops methods to investigate noise generation and noise propagation in jet engine components.
