Christian Karrasch

Christian Karrasch studied physics at the University of Bonn and earned his doctorate at Ruhr University Bochum. As a doctoral candidate, he prepared material samples and experiments for the electromagnetic levitator (EML). These experiments are currently being conducted on board the International Space Station (ISS). His academic background in material physics enabled him to carry out microgravity experiments aboard the parabolic flight aircraft that is also used by DLR. Karrasch is a research associate and technical director for ISS utilisation at the DLR Space Administration in Bonn.

Together with his colleagues from the ISS specialist group, he provides support for the German contributions to the horizons mission of Alexander Gerst. Karrasch is also the project manager responsible for CIMON (Crew Interactive Mobile Companion), an astronaut assistance system
