The aim of the project was the reduction of the operating costs of European aircraft components by 15% through the increased use of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP). It was intended to accomplish this objective by further progressive system integration, utilization of the weight reduction potential and optimization of production and maintenance. The project was based on four technical platforms: Passenger aircraft wings and fuselage, business aircraft wings and fuselage.
