December 16, 2021  The Ger­man en­vi­ron­men­tal satel­lite En­MAP (En­vi­ron­men­tal Map­ping and Anal­y­sis Pro­gram), which was de­vel­oped and built in Ger­many on be­half of the Ger­man Space Agen­cy at DLR with fund­ing from the Fed­er­al Min­istry of Eco­nom­ic Af­fairs and Cli­mate Ac­tion (BMWK), is ready for launch.

En­MAP – packed up and ready to go

March 2, 2022  The Ger­man en­vi­ron­men­tal satel­lite En­MAP packed safe­ly in its trans­port con­tain­er, ready for a flight across the North At­lantic to Cape Canaver­al. The US com­pa­ny SpaceX will launch it from here on board a Fal­con 9 rock­et.

February 2, 2022  The Ger­man En­MAP en­vi­ron­men­tal satel­lite in a clean­room at OHB Sys­tem AG in Bre­men. The fi­nal tasks are be­ing car­ried out here be­fore the satel­lite is trans­port­ed to NASA's space­port in Flori­da at the end of Febru­ary 2022.

En­MAP hy­per­spec­tral in­stru­ment

February 2, 2022  En­MAP's hy­per­spec­tral in­stru­ment has more than 220 colour chan­nels that can achieve a ground res­o­lu­tion of 30 me­tres from an al­ti­tude of 650 kilo­me­tres.

En­MAP be­ing hoist­ed

March 2, 2022  Ready to go: The Ger­man en­vi­ron­men­tal satel­lite En­MAP was set down in its trans­port con­tain­er. En­MAP was trans­port­ed from the OHB site in Bre­men to Hanover air­port by a heavy goods ve­hi­cle. From there, the satel­lite was trans­port­ed by air via Green­land and New­found­land to Flori­da with a stopover in Ice­land.
