The DLR Institute of Data Science at the Jena site

In August 2017, DLR established an additional location in Jena - the Institute of Data Science. This new institute will be dedicated to the challenges of digitalisation and Industry 4.0.

The main focus of the Institute of Data Science in Jena relies on finding solutions for the new challenges of the digitalisation era. Research is being conducted into topics related to Data Management, IT Security and Smart Systems (Industry 4.0).

This work complements established research areas at other DLR institutes and extends DLR's core competences. In line with the Institute's thematic focus, four departments have been established, subdivided into working groups, namely: Data Management Technologies, Climate Informatics, Visual Analytics, Machine Learning, Safe Software Technology and Digital Production Platforms. Each working group is supported by other DLR institutes and works in close cooperation with partners from research and industry.
