Sankt Augustin
The Institute for the Protection of Terrestrial Infrastructures focuses its research and development activities on the protection of critical infrastructures. It develops concepts, processes and technologies that strengthen and improve the resilience of critical organizations and facilities. At the same time, the institute develops intelligent sensors that can monitor infrastructures and detect hazardous substances, particularly in the area of CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive threats).
The Institute for AI Security is also located at the site. The management and administration of the institute is based there, as are its three scientific departments Business Development & Networks, Safety-Critical Data and Algorithms and Hybrid Solutions. Two further departments are located at the Ulm site.
The Institute for Software Technology bundles its research on quantum computing and intelligent software systems at the Sankt Augustin site. It is represented there by the three working groups "Quantum Computing Methods and Implementation", "Quantum Computing Application Software" and "Intelligent Software Systems". The institute works from a total of eight locations on specialized software solutions for the key areas of aviation, aerospace, transport, energy and security.
