Your mission:

The Institute of Optical Sensor Systems investigates and develops active and passive optical sensor systems for satellites, flying platforms and robotic systems. Our vision is to develop autonomous optical sensor systems in analogy to and extension of the human visual perception.

The sensor systems are developed for applications spanning the UV, visible, infrared and THz spectral range. The passive sensors are spatially or spectrally highly resolving (for example cameras, spectrometers, microscopes or combinations thereof). The active systems are laser-based. Examples are spectrometers, data transmission links and interferometers.

The optical sensor systems are applied in Earth observation, robotics and planetary research as well as in transport and security. The development of sensor algorithms for information processing is the basis for autonomous optical sensor systems.

Your mission: To maintain and improve the quality of our products and processes you

  • define, implement and manage the product and quality assurance measures for complex projects, especially for space applications of optical sensor systems
  • collaborate in projects as the person responsible for product and quality assurance, coach employees to ensure standards are met, represent results both internally and externally
  • establish the procedures and methods to guarantee the quality of technological developments based on recognized standards (e. g. ECSS), create and maintain information databases (components, documents)
  • define and monitor the product quality of suppliers, complete audits/reviews at the suppliers’ premises
  • perform reliability and failure analyses (e. g. FMECA, WCA, radiation)
  • support planning, organizing and supervising of reviews (PDR, CDR etc.)
  • do the non-conformances, deviation and waiver management
  • plan and implement MIPs and KIPs
  • secure test environments within the laboratories (e. g. calibration of measuring equipment) in accordance with recognized standards (e. g. ECSS, DIN, MIL)
  • plan and monitor environmental and lab conditions to ensure the product quality (e. g. clean-room management)
  • You will be working in a dynamic international team of researchers with the prospect of scientific and academic development.

Your qualifications:

  • technical or scientific university education (Space Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.) completed with a Diploma or Master degree.
  • long-time experience in developing components and systems for space and aerial applications
  • experience as product assurance manager for systems for space and aerial applications
  • very good knowledge of recognized aerospace standards (e. g. ECSS, MIL)
  • knowledge in the monitoring of laboratories/clean rooms
  • fluently spoken and written English language
  • motivation and dedication for constructive work in a team
