The department of Energy Systems Analysis at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) provides valuable techno-economic knowledge for the successful implementation of the energy system transformation. Using scientific methods, it promotes the anticipatory identification and assessment of technical, economic, environmental and social impacts along possible transformation paths. Our research groups Energy Economics, Energy System Modelling and Energy Scenarios & Technology Assessment at the Stuttgart location develop and use methods and tools that are tailored to the specific issues of techno-economic systems analysis and technology assessment in the field of energy supply. Decision-makers from science, industry, politics and society thus receive evidence-based orientation which serves to develop long-term research priorities and to shape the framework conditions of energy, environmental and research policy.
Due to its relevance for decision-makers at national and international level, the Energy Systems Analysis with its high degree of topicality represents an important component of energy research at DLR. With currently approx. 60 researchers and a planned growth to around 80 employees at the Oldenburg and Stuttgart locations, DLR has extensive and diverse expertise in consulting and answering current technological and systemic questions.
As Head of Department for Energy Systems Analysis at the Stuttgart site, you will be part of a two-member management team and, together with the Head of Department at the Oldenburg site, will make a major contribution to the expansion of DLR research expertise in the field of energy systems analysis and the energy industry. We attach particular importance to a research-oriented approach and close and interdisciplinary cooperation with other DLR institutes and with external research institutions as well as industry and politics.
