Type of employment

"Cutting-edge research requires excellent minds – particularly more females – at all levels. Launch your mission with us and send in your application now!" Prof. Pascale Ehrenfreund - Chair of the DLR Executive Board

Digitalisation has been a hot topic for last couple of years. Being one of the leading research institutes in the field of manufacturing of ceramic composites, digitalisation has also become an integral part of our future strategy to further optimize our materials and processes. As data is one of the main pillars of digitalisation, it is very important to collect and structure the data before it can be analysed to understand the effects of process parameters over the final product. The main aim of this internship is to create an user interface, so that different users can enter the manufacturing data during different process steps. This data should then be stored in a database for further analysis by material scientists. This position is available only for students with mandatory internship in their study program.

The work will comprise:

  • execution of study to define the user requirements
  • comparison with existing methodology for data procurement
  • development of a concept for the user interface
  • integration of the data in the existing database
  • testing the potential for machine learning algorithms to predict the performance of the material based on manufacturing data

Your qualifications:

  • experience with user interface development
  • experience with SQL-based databases
  • experience with Python
  • ability to work in interdisciplinary teams

Your benefits:

Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development. Our unique infrastructure offers you a working environment in which you have unparalled scope to develop your creative ideas and accomplish your professional objectives. Our human resources policy places great value on a healthy family and work-life-balance as well as equal opportunities for persons of all genders (m/f/non-binary). Individuals with disabilities will be given preferential consideration in the event their qualifications are equivalent to those of other candidates.
