"Cutting-edge research requires excellent minds – particularly more females – at all levels. Launch your mission with us and send in your application now!" Prof. Pascale Ehrenfreund - Chair of the DLR Executive Board
The development of civil unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) is currently taking place at a rate of innovation that has only been characteristic of the IT industry to date. Legislators as well as manufacturers, users and researchers are breaking new ground in the application of UAS on an economic scale and in the integration of UAS into (urban) airspace. Due to the rapid growth of the entire industry, the number of system tests will also have to increase significantly in order to enable holistic technology development. This results in a need for new testing procedures and possibilities with regard to technological and regulatory issues as well as acceptance and environmental questions, which do not yet exist in the required form.

In order to close this gap in the national and European testing landscape, the National Experimental Test Centre for Unmanned Aircraft Systems is to be established as a test centre where the necessary skills and competencies are bundled and where the entities involved in UAS development can network.

We are currently looking to strengthen our growing team for the establishment of our new test center.

In direct connection with the management of the test centre, the position holder will be responsible for the technical coordination of the scientific setup and the management of the related work packages. This includes the following tasks:
  • networking and management of the individual work teams and contents
  • resource and content planning within the scientific development team
  • technical coordination of development and investment measures
  • moderation and coordination of prioritisation and conflicts of interest
  • representation of professional interests vis-à-vis ministries, authorities and partner organisations in the design and development of scientific infrastructures
  • preparation of analysis and project results for the DLR Executive Board and preparation of decision-ready templates for the DLR Executive Board
  • organizational development for the DLR facility to be set up in cooperation with the facility management
We offer you a very good working atmosphere in an innovative research and development environment with extensive scope for design, state-of-the-art equipment and an environment with national and international cooperations that you can help to develop yourself. You will work in a team with start-up character and develop future-oriented results.
