To shape the mobility of people and the transport of goods. The Traffic and Mobility Management division ensures excellent research results and the economic success of the Institute of Transportation Systems at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in this research field. It identifies short-, medium- and long-term research needs and derives specific research and development issues from them. It initiates industry-specific and interdisciplinary research projects involving the Institute's various fields of technology. In addition, the Traffic and Mobility Management division ensures the visibility of the concepts, competencies and results developed - both internally and externally. The research and development activities always focus on the entire transport system with its manifold interactions.

Your tasks include:

  • design of research and development topics with a focus on urban traffic and mobility services, digitalization of the city of the future
  • conception and initiation of the acquisition of research projects in cooperation with the technology departments
  • derivation of technology requirements and standards for laboratories and large-scale research facilities
  • specification of functional scope of prototypes and demonstrators
  • establishing and maintaining contacts to networks and especially key customers
  • representation in relevant committees (internal and external) - e.g. working groups set up by ministries on the subject of mobility, scientific working groups
  • public presentation of the industry and communication on central project results in cooperation with the public relations work of the institute and the fields of technology

Your qualifications:

  • university degree in Transport & Mobility or a comparable field of study
  • many years of professional experience outside research institutions in the field of Intelligent Traffic Systems, mobility services or public transport
  • many years of sales experience or association work
  • competences and experience in the field of strategic planning
  • strong communication and cooperation skills, assertiveness and negotiation skills
  • independent, scientifically based way of working
  • ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate in interdisciplinary teams
  • practical experience in conducting presentations and negotiations
  • flexibility and resilience
  • ability to actively participate in English-language working groups
  • experience in the initiation and execution of projects with a focus on Intelligent Traffic Systems, urban mobility services and digitalization in the field of traffic management is desirable
  • knowledge and experience in the field of rail automation are advantageous due to the internal networking of the sectors within the institute is of advantage
