The design of modern commercial aircraft is a highly complex multidisciplinary process, in the course of which a multitude of requirements have to be implemented in the best possible solution. The best options for further design elaboration should be isolated as early as possible from a large number of potential solution candidates. For this, an assessment must be made with regard to many criteria, including installation space, weight, and degree of fulfillment of the security, reliability and availability requirements as well as the costs of the system early in the design process.

As part of your work, you will develop innovative methods for the design of safety-critical systems. You create design algorithms for system components and integrate them into our software tools. You place particular emphasis on the coherent consideration of security, availability and reliability in the context of system design and system evaluation. You will also acquire expert knowledge in the area of aircraft system components, e.g. kinematics, actuators and electric drives, electrical or hydraulic energy supply, fluidic components and develop yourself into a specialist for the design and integration of these elements.

Your qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in aerospace technology, mechatronics, or mechanical engineering with relevant specialization
  • Good knowledge of modeling and simulation of dynamic systems
  • Good knowledge of the reliability of technical systems and functional safety
  • Good knowledge of a modeling and simulation environment for dynamic systems, e.g. MATLAB / Simulink, Modelica or Python
  • Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering, especially SysML or UML
  • Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler desired
  • Very good spoken and written German and English skills
  • Practical experience in the design of safety-critical flight control systems is a plus
