The ensuring of safety and security of critical infrastructures is an essential basis for the economic prosperity and stability of states and societies. The Institute for the Protection of Terrestrial Infrastructures (PI) is dedicated to this task and develops concepts, procedures and technologies that serve to assess and improve the security status of infrastructures. The following three levels are considered: people, technology and the overall system.
Within the institute the task of the department "Detection Systems" is the development of procedures for the delivery of processed and already partially interpreted measurement results for critical infrastructures. Data acquisition methods range from the evaluation of large-scale data (e.g. satellite data or weather) to detailed measurements within the infrastructures. The span from one-time measurements for model initialization to data acquisition in real time for determining the operating status or a situation picture in case of an incident is covered. The department is divided into two thematic fields: the detection and identification of CBRNE agents and the geometric-functional-physical survey of buildings, building parts and system components. The first mentioned field comprises three working groups - "Cyber-Physical Systems", "C/B/E Detection" and "R/N/EM Radiation Detection".
The open position lies within the working group "C/B/E Detection". You will mainly be involved in the development and implementation of concepts for the protection of terrestrial infrastructures against biological hazards. The execution of research and development projects in this field will also be one of your tasks.
