Free Space Optical (FSO) communications not only overcome the bandwidth limitations of RF systems, but also offer better power efficiency, security and higher data rates compared to their traditional RF counterparts. The Institute of Communications and Navigation has developed flight terminals and ground stations to demonstrate FSO in aeronautical and Space applications. Currently, the ground stations are running several software applications which control and monitor various aspects of their operation.
