Full-time (part-time possible)
The Institute for System Architectures in Aeronautics treats aviation as an overall system, starting with the transport system and the aircraft and ending with the production of individual components. The research aims at new system architectures, i.e. the interaction of all elements in this system of systems.
A key element in the joint and cross-disciplinary modeling of the system architectures is the use of the central data exchange format CPACS (Common Parametric Aircraft Configuration Schema, www.cpacs.de). Applying CPACS and its software libraries to interpret parametric data significantly reduces the number of interfaces required and the number of conversion and interpretation errors between disciplines involved in the design. It also forms a solid basis for communication between the specialists involved in the design.
You will develop an interpolation library with the goal of ensuring consistent and robust use of multidimensional aerodynamic and engine maps. For this purpose, you will first design a concept for the optimal use of such a library in a common aircraft preliminary design process. Based on literature studies, you will identify suitable interpolation approaches and then extend the existing prototype of a CPACS library with an interpolation module. After successful verification of your implementation, you will integrate the library into an exemplary design process in order to evaluate the usage concept you developed at the beginning in practical use.
