The services and results of the work of the DLR Institute for Future Fuels contribute to the technical and economical environmentally friendly energy supply. Within this framework, concepts and technologies are developed for the solar-assisted production of hydrogen and synthesis gas for further processing into fuels.

In this work, the heat transfer and storage with thermochemical reaction is to be designed for operating temperatures above 900°C and the associated planning documents are to be prepared. In addition, the position and number of various measuring sensors are to be defined and considered in the preparation of the planning documents. The created documents are intended for the experimental investigation of a solar heat assisted high temperature electrolysis process. This is to be investigated in a test campaign at the large-scale research facility Synlight.

Your qualifications:

  • study direction of mechanical, energy or process engineering
  • experience with heat transfer, thermodynamic and fluid mechanic
  • experience in CAD (e. g. Autodesk Inventor) is an advantage
  • design experience through internships or student research projects is an advantage
  • we require initiative and enthusiasm for the topic of solar research
