Mobility has a high priority in our society. People want to reach their destination safely, comfortably and quickly. Goods must be transported cost-effectively over short and long distances. The consequences of mobility can be seen in environmental pollution, accidents and traffic jams, which increase with the ever-growing volume of traffic. These are the challenges we face at the Institute of Transportation Systems. We develop solutions for the safe and efficient mobility of the future.
Instead of only looking at individual vehicles and vehicle functions, our focus is on whole traffic systems. We therefore put emphasis on the interaction between different road users and the interaction between road users and surrounding infrastructure by considering and enhancing most recent developments esp. in terms of connectivity, digitalization and automation. In addition, finding optimal solutions for changing the mode of transportation wherever required are part of our research.
We are looking for a new employee (computer scientist, engineer) for the development of automated driving functions in highly connected traffic systems. You will focus particularly on urban scenarios, where you will explore and develop new concepts of cooperative automated driving. Here, cooperation includes cooperation with other road users, but also cooperation with road side infrastructure. Therefore, you will work on the following topics among others:
For your research, DLR offers you an integrated DLR-owned tool chain with numerous laboratories, (connected) simulators, automated test vehicles and research infrastructure in the field such as the Application platform for Intelligent Mobility (AIM) or the Test Bed Lower Saxony.
To achieve your goals, you work in an interdisciplinary team of computer scientists, engineers, and ergonomists and you rely on the experience of psychologists in conducting volunteer studies. You will encounter a stimulating research environment, plenty of room for own ideas and international visibility. You will take over tasks with high responsibility that help shape the European and national environment. Furthermore, DLR offers many attractive qualification and education opportunities, including to obtain a PhD if desired.
.
Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development. Our unique infrastructure offers you a working environment in which you have unparalleled scope to develop your creative ideas and accomplish your professional objectives. Our human resources policy places great value on a healthy family and work-life-balance as well as equal opportunities for persons of all genders (f/m/x). Individuals with disabilities will be given preferential consideration in the event their qualifications are equivalent to those of other candidates.
