Infrastructure less communications is the enabler technology for future railway application like virtual coupling or autonomous driving trains. The Vehicular Applications group is developing the fundamentals for those wireless technologies. Major aspects are the characterization and modelling of propagation effects in the railway environment.
Based on measurement data, collected at the world wide first highspeed Train-to-Train measurement campaign, the multipath components for an intra-consist link should be characterized. In a first phase, your goal is to classify the measurement data for different environments and link them with environmental information. In the second phase, you research the relative movement of transmitter and receiver to each other and the absolute movement of the train. The goal is to describe the movements with suitable mathematical models. In the final phase, your goal is to link the movement models with the corresponding effects on the propagation, investigate the multipath components dependent on the different environments, track and characterize them.
Look forward to a fulfilling job with an employer who appreciates your commitment and supports your personal and professional development.
