In the framework of different European atmospheric satellite missions DLR’s Remote Sensing Technology Institute develops algorithms for the accurate derivation of ozone and other trace gases (e.g. NO2, SO2, HCHO, CHOCHO, H2O, BrO, OClO) as well as physical aerosol and cloud properties from satellite data obtained from UVN atmospheric spectrometers. These algorithms are used operationally in near-real-time processing systems of DLR, AC-SAF, ESA and EUMETSAT.
The Remote Sensing Technology Institute has many years of experience in deriving atmospheric products from satellite measurements ranging from GOME/ERS-2, SCIAMACHY/ENVISAT, GOME-2/METOP to TROPOMI/S5P and continuing in the future with the Copernicus Sentinel missions Sentinel-4 and Sentinel-5 (see e.g. https://atmos.eoc.dlr.de/tropomi/ and https://atmos.eoc.dlr.de/gome2/).
