Break new scientific ground and expand your horizon

If you want to research key issues of our time, you don't have to wait until you've completed your studies. As a student research assistant at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), you will work on current research and technology projects in the aerospace, energy, transport, security and digitalisation sectors. In our interdisciplinary teams, you will have the chance to work with the greatest minds in engineering and science. Perhaps you will soon be working with them to research the flight dynamics of future commercial aircraft, produce the model-based design for a wind energy unit or even develop facial recognition capabilities for a humanoid robot. Of course, besides the most up-to-date hardware and software, we will also provide you with our first-class equipment. Take on responsibility at an early stage and experience the fascination of working on projects that will have an impact on our future.

The fastest route to cutting-edge research

Have you chosen a technical or science course? Do you enjoy working independently in a team? Are you passionate about highly innovative technologies? If so, click now on our vacancies or submit a speculative application to the DLR institute or facility researching your specialist area. If you join DLR as a student research assistant, you will, of course, be remunerated. Together, we will decide how many hours per week you will spend on our research projects – so you can have the best of both worlds: theory and practice.
