Safety & sustainability

You can always count on DLR

From the very outset of the coronavirus crisis, everyone at DLR joined forces: we quickly switched to working from home, implemented all the necessary measures while upholding our performance. We continue to adapt to current conditions flexibly and with the necessary caution. It is reassuring to be able to rely on each other and on DLR, even in uncertain times.

Thanks to digitalisation, all processes continue to run smoothly, not just for our employees but also for applicants.

You can apply as usual; our institutes and facilities will choose suitable interview formats based on the available options.

Even in times of crisis: apply as usual, rely on a secure employer

Home office and remote work?

Yes! Depending on the job, you can work remotely for up to 80 percent of your working time.

We have implemented highly flexible arrangements for remote work to adapt to our colleagues’ evolving needs. The crisis has made us much more flexible!

As a public research organisation of the Federal Republic of Germany, we remain well-equipped for the future. Welcome to DLR!

For a future worth living in

Low-emission propulsion systems, clean energy, monitoring climate change and air pollution, and cross-sectoral sustainability concepts are focal points in our research. But we don't just conduct research, we also do our best to save resources and protect the environment in our day-to-day operations.

What we do

  • We support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Germany with our research
  • We have an optimised DLR-wide energy concept
  • We have an internal sustainability initiative, which includes reducing business travel and switching to rail transport, but also involves research processes and HR management
  • We collect ideas from employees to optimise our energy and resource consumption
  • We conduct intensive research into sustainability technologies
  • We have a 'Sustainability' Executive Board division
  • We are committed to the German Sustainability Code
  • We network with other research institutions as well as with policymakers and funding bodies

At DLR, we've achieved a noteworthy success in reducing heat consumption over the past few months – a 'weather-adjusted' saving of approximately 12 percent. We're not stopping there; our plans include generating electricity to meet our research and operational needs.
