I am a pioneer in a novel research area
For me, environment-friendly energy supply begins with energy saving. Approximately 480 petajoules of waste are emitted by industrial activities into the environment in Germany every year. This could be used to heat almost 20 percent of all the households in Germany. I am researching how this waste heat can be stored for later reuse in production processes. I recently completed a PhD on innovative thermochemical processes. I was able to set my own focal areas within my research work and investigate a number of secondary aspects. With so much freedom, it is sometimes hard to keep your eye on the main goal – in this research area, everything that you get to work with is truly new and exciting!
The great thing about being a young scientist is that…
… I have great prospects at DLR! I can continue to train myself in the way that I want and become an expert in my area of choice. Perhaps, at some point, I will build my own team and research an interesting scientific question.
