In our study regarding the topic of "digitization and networking of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)", we get in touch with companies to show the possibilities for automating the inter-organizational information exchange and to get feedback on the challenges that arise with in this area.
To gain more detailed insights into the state of affairs, needs and challenges faced by the companies, we conduct surveys, workshops and interviews. In the exchange with the companies, we learn how challenges that have already arisen have been dealt with and what successes have been achieved or what setbacks have been experienced.
As it turns out, the hurdles that arise are of different nature. Technical hurdles arise, for example, especially where the company’s internal degree of digitization is still at the beginning of development. Legal hurdles arise particularly in industries that are subject to strict conditions, such as space sector, and company-specific hurdles appear in the form of missing resources or inadequate change management.
In our study, we compile companies’ needs and challenges, evaluate the results and give recommendations for actions on how to proceed. Our study serves as the basis for further research and developments in the field of inter-organizational information exchange. In our exchange with companies, we would like to promote the digitization process, provide suggestions, and identify opportunities for joint research.
Interested companies are invited to get in contact with us - also after this project is finished.
