The PIXEL MACHINE is innovative, since it applies -unprecedentedly- the complete set of state-of-the-art Earth Observation data (LiDAR, InSAR, multispectral drone and satellite data); and it is scientifically strong, since its algorithms explore novel machine and deep learning with the aim to step further to synergistic approaches. The PIXEL MACHINE complements and connects to the Werkstatt-projects C1, C2, P1, P2, P6, P9.
The PIXEL MACHINE links our four data-driven departments in Jena and connects to several MichaelStifel experts in the university’s computer science department and MPI-BGC. The PIXEL MACHINE establishes a very much needed field of research to derive information from complex spatio-temporal Big Data records and data cubes for a wide variety of remote sensing applications. Thus, it builds a platform for manifold future interdisciplinary joint proposals.
