Further Development of the Monitoring of Agricultural Land through in Situ Data Collection and Modelling of Biophysical Parameters Taking Local Knowledge regarding Agricultural Management and Phenological Development into account
This research and development project aims to capture local knowledge of citizen scientists concerning crop development and management of arable land. The resulting data are integrated into a satellite-aided model for the retrieval of vegetation parameters. This reduces uncertainties accompanied with the parameter derivation.
For this, scientifically based workflows that ensure data quality and a standardized acquisition of local knowledge and supplementary in situ data were developed, tested, evaluated and further developed. These workflows form the basis for the development of the modular application "FieldMApp" that enables the acquisition of local knowledge and the assessment of associated uncertainties. The FieldMApp software can be flexibly adapted to the requirements of different research projects (cf. Roda: Ökosystem Wald, AgriSens - DEMMIN 4.0). This should motivate the reuse of the software, contributing in the long term to a cross-project standardization regarding the acquisition of citizen science data.
