Mawrth Vallis region – the deepest clay deposits on Mars

New images, created using data acquired by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) on board ESA's Mars Express spacecraft, show part of the dried-up Mawrth Vallis river valley. This is one of the largest and oldest valleys on Mars, where light-coloured clay deposits up to 200 metres deep can be found in numerous places.

Robot grips intuitively and moves objects like a human

Agile Justin knows how to grasp objects correctly – even if it does not recognise them yet. The humanoid robot can also turn these items in its hand in any desired direction – without looking. This is commonplace for humans, but extremely difficult for robots. A team from DLR has now trained a robot to acquire these highly complex skills.

Radar imaging from space – the stadiums of the Women's World Cup down under

The FIFA Women's World Cup will take place in Australia and New Zealand from 20 July to 20 August 2023. To mark the occasion, the latest TanDEM-X highlight invites you on a virtual trip down under. With these high-resolution images of the World Cup stadiums acquired from orbit, the radar satellites TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X are setting the mood for the sporting event of the summer.

Together, they fought adverse conditions and explored how new technologies can contribute to life-saving operations.

DLR_Weltraum_Kino at the Bundesgartenschau (BUGA) 2023

The 54th Paris Air Show will take place at Le Bourget Airport from 19 to 25 June. In 2023, the leading representatives from the industry will again come together at Europe's largest industry gathering; the latest technological innovations will be on display here. The first four days are reserved for trade visitors, followed by three days for the general public.
