Extracurricular education is an important building block for regional structural development as well as for securing skilled workers and an opportunity for successful structural change. At the same time, it is an opportunity to draw the attention of young people as potential students to the diverse courses of study at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The Prorectorate of Education and International Affairs is striving to establish an Upper Lusatian Future Learning Center for the entire region. The aim of the project "Future Learning Location Upper Lusatia" is in particular to equip diverse and innovative learning spaces in the extracurricular area with future-oriented offers focused on regional development.

In the course of the close cooperation between the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) at the Zittau site, a first milestone was reached here, as one of these extracurricular learning spaces is the Junior Academy, which will become the DLR_School_Lab of the HSZG.
