DLR has successfully conducted the maiden flight of the HyBird demonstrator at the National Test Centre for Unmanned Aerial Systems in Cochstedt. With the flight tests in Cochstedt, a new configuration was flown for the first time worldwide. The current HyBird demonstrator on a scale of 1:4 consists of a high-wing aircraft with a large propeller at each wingtip (wing-tip propeller) and at each end of the V-tail. In the future, this concept should be able to carry five to nine passengers at least 700 to 1,000 kilometres.
