InnoTrans 2016

Digitalisation, Rail2X communication and directing attention at level crossings - these were the topics presented by the DLR Institute of Transportation Systems at the InnoTrans 2016. In a driving simulation visitors became car drivers to let their attention be directed by the peripher flash light PeriLight while passing a level crossing. Continuing the trip the driver received a warning on his head-down display through Rail2X communication as soon as the level crossing was secured. For the digitalisation the institute introduced methods and tools from data collection through fusion and enrichment to data evaluation and utilisation and demonstrated the detection of spot faults in the rails through vibrations that are measured by an off-the-shelve-solution that fits in a small suitcase.
