EOC scientist Dr. Xiaoxiang Zhu has been awarded the DFG’s Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize for 2015. She received the award at a formal presentation in Berlin on 5 May 2015 from BMBF State Secretary Cornelia Quennet-Thielen and the General Secretary of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Dorothee Dzwonnek.
The Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize is regarded as the most important award for junior researchers in Germany. It is presented annually to ten scientists from any research field. This year’s winners are shown below. Xiaoxiang Zhu heads the Signal Analysis team of the SAR Signal Processing group at the Remote Sensing Technology Institute as well as the Helmholtz University Young Scientists Group “SiPEO” at IMF and TU Munich. She develops algorithms for remote sensing applications, specializing in multidimensional SAR imagery (for example, SAR tomography) and hyperspectral signal analysis.
