DeSecure is a joint project initiated by the German Space Agency (DLR) for the purpose of improving the quality of satellite based crisis information for Germany. The entire production cycle (data reception, preprocessing, information extraction and dissemination) is to be analyzed and optimized. Another focus is on integrating data from the German satellites TerraSAR-X and RapidEye into this production cycle.Due to the steadily increasing occurrence of natural disasters worldwide, the number of affected people and the economic consequences also escalate. In order to react promptly to such emergencies, aid organizations need timely and precise information about rapidly evolving events. DeSecure is designed to meet the needs of German users for such information for both national and international missions involving natural disasters, humanitarian emergencies and threats to the civilian population.
