At “Augsburg Children‘s University” scientists teach youngsters about current research topics and provide background knowledge. EOC is involved.

After a break of several years, “Augsburg Children‘s University” was resumed for the winter semester 2016/17, following the very popular format used between 2005 and 2012. In the individual lectures fascinating questions relating to science and daily life are answered in a style suitable for children, as a rule by “real” professors and sometimes also by invited experts. The speakers are helped by their assistant, the puppet Kaspar from the Augsburger Puppenkiste, who introduces each topic. The Children’s University is the ideal place to discover what fun research is and to obtain an idea of what it is like to be a student. For the young scholars, who are typically 8 to 12 years old, curiosity and liking to make discoveries are the only special requirements. This is also the case for their parents or adult escorts, who can watch a live broadcast of each lecture in a nearby auditorium.

On Saturday, 21 January 2017, Michael Bittner of EOC explained to children at the Augsburg University Audi Max why the atmosphere is a place where small changes have large effects.
