From 18.-22.02.2019 the first technical dry run for the trial "The Netherlands" took place within the framework of the EU-funded FP7 project DRIVER+. DRIVER+ brings together innovative (technical) solutions for crisis management and tests them in Europe-wide demonstrations. DLR is involved in the project with four institutes, including the Earth Observation Center (EOC) with ZKI.
Together with the crisis management "Safety Region the Hague", DLR is leading the third trial of the project, which will be held in The Hague from 20 to 24 May 2019. The scenario comprises a flood situation that leads to cascading effects, such as power and (tele)communication failures, as well as a lack of drinking water and food for the population. 6 innovative technologies are selected to be tested in the trial including ZKI.
The project "Driving Innovation in Crisis Management for European Resilience" (DRIVER+) is funded by the EU within the 7th Framework Programme (FP7). It is a unique multinational project working across sectors and looking for ways to implement a new approach to improving crisis management in Europe. DRIVER+ aims to evaluate and validate innovative and practical crisis management solutions that have proven their worth and are used primarily by and for emergency practitioners.
