A framework contract running from 2021-2024, “IF-Bund - Innovative Remote Sensing for the German Federal Administration”, has been concluded between the German Aerospace Center (Deutschen Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V.) and the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community (BMI).
Its purpose is to assure the routine sharing of remote sensing science expertise with federal administrative organs.
In addition to informing BMI about the latest scientific developments and innovative application methodologies, diverse federal authorities can together with DLR implement various remote sensing customizations, such as,
IF-Bund succeeds the previous very successful collaboration relating to the ZKI-DE service. The focus is on research and new developments as well as expanding the user spectrum beyond the traditional main topics of natural disasters and civil security, thereby complementing the portfolio of existing remote sensing services, like the SKD service of the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG) or the Copernicus services.
