Meteorological measurements

Since 1995 meteorological parameters have been recorded at GARS O’Higgins year-round, around-the-clock and automatically with the help of an automated weather station. Air pressure, temperature, humidity, wind direction and wind speed are measured. The data are available from the BKG website and updated daily.

In addition, weather observations are routinely made at the nearby Chilean station Bernardo O’Higgins. These data flow into international databanks (e.g., at NOAA).

Recordings of the meteorological parameters air temperature (top), air pressure (centre) and wind speed (below) at GARS O’Higgins for 2008. The temporal resolution is 15 minutes (Klügel et al. 2015, avn).
