Flight Operations are the mandate of the flight operations team, which is responsible for monitoring and controlling the satellite, designing and implementing all operational processes, and for the control room infrastructure. In collaboration with the system engineers of the space segment, the flight operations team draws up and validates flight control procedures for operating the satellite during the preparation phase, and maintains them during the operational phase. For purposes of testing and validation, various test models of the satellite combined with a checkout system are used during the preparation phase.
The Flight Dynamics System handles the BIROS manoeuvre planning, orbit determination, and creation of orbit data for both satellites. Furthermore, it provides pointing information for the various ground stations; files containing information on ground station contacts, shadow phases and other events; and orbital elements for the on-orbit propagators.
