Sensors replace pilots
30.09. | The companies Diehl and HENSOLDT carried out flight tests in July and August 2019 together with DLR on a new sensor system to increase air safety. The idea is to prevent collisions between aircraft.
European research for more punctual and efficient airport operations

Technologies for crisis management in the event of a disaster
17.09. | Earthquakes occur every day in Europe. The EU's DRIVER+ project conducted a comprehensive disaster management exercise to address this. It was held from 12 to 14 September 2019 in the Eisenerz region of Austria, with a view to strengthening crisis management capabilities.
DLR conducts flight tests for gyrocopter drones
25.07. | In a globalised world, logistics and networking are becoming increasingly important. As part of the ALAADy system and ALAADy Demonstrator projects, DLR is conducting research into automated, uncrewed air transport at low altitudes.

DLR tests innovative crisis management solutions
28.05. | A comprehensive flood scenario was simulated in The Hague from 22 to 23 May 2019 as part of the Driving Innovation in Crisis Management for European Resilience (DRIVER+) project. Five innovative solutions were evaluated. The trial was an opportunity to examine innovative solutions for crisis management in Europe.

DLR tests the City-ATM system at bridge in Hamburg
15.05. | DLR and its partners in the City Air Traffic Management (City-ATM) project conducted successful flight tests around the Köhlbrand Bridge in late April 2019 to demonstrate how drones are already able to cooperate with one another, as demonstrated by flying around a bridge, amid active shipping and road traffic.
