Supporting small airports using virtual reality

21.02. | The new project 'Greener Air Traffic Operations' (GreAT) held its launch event at the DLR Institute of Flight Guidance in Braunschweig, Germany. This European-Chinese research and innovation project aims to reduce the impact of air transport on climate change.
New DLR ISTAR research aircraft

25.10. | DLR and the Office of Commercial Space Transportation of the US Federal Aviation Administration are seeking to identify the data that may need to be exchanged between United States and European Air Navigation Service Providers prior to, during and after a space launch or re-entry operation that is initiated in one country and traverses the airspace of another country.
Sensors replace pilots
30.09. | The companies Diehl and HENSOLDT carried out flight tests in July and August 2019 together with DLR on a new sensor system to increase air safety. The idea is to prevent collisions between aircraft.
European research for more punctual and efficient airport operations
19.09. | To ensure that the complex ground processes become more punctual, efficient and safe, partners have implemented three SESAR solutions as part of the SESAR Integrated Airport Operations (IAO) project at three airports.
Technologies for crisis management in the event of a disaster
17.09. | Earthquakes occur every day in Europe. The EU's DRIVER+ project conducted a comprehensive disaster management exercise to address this. It was held from 12 to 14 September 2019 in the Eisenerz region of Austria, with a view to strengthening crisis management capabilities.
