TrafficSim is an in-house developed air traffic simulator capable of simulating realistic aircraft movements in detail. It generates high-traffic scenarios with more than 70,000 aircraft in real-time, fast-time and slow motion. TrafficSim is designed to support the development and validation of on-board tools as well as air traffic management tools.
TrafficSim is suitable as a “proof of concept simulation” for new ATM concepts and trajectory-based operations. All aircraft in a scenario can be individually equipped with a subset of modern or future airborne capabilities: 4D FMS, conflict detection and self-separation functions as well as data link facilities for air-to-air and air-to-ground communication.
