SIMMOD
As commercial discrete event simulations, SIMMODPlus! and SIMMODPro! enable a detailed rule-based simulation of airside traffic flows at the airport and in the airspace.
Tailored to short and medium-term developments in the air traffic system, the Institute of Flight Guidance uses these two simulators to evaluate changes in taxiing traffic, in the airside infrastructure of an airport or in the utilisation strategy of runway systems and positioning areas. The high level of detail in the modelling in combination with a high simulation speed and extensive automation allows the evaluation of large quantities of simulation scenarios in a short time. In order to improve individual relevant airport parameters, specially developed automatic optimisation procedures can be used with specifically varied simulation cycles.
The Air Traffic Validation Centre coordinates the European SIMMOD User Group (ESUG) as one of the world's leading user groups for high-speed simulations in air traffic.
