he Institute of Transportation System's large-scale research facilities make it possible to seamlessly translate scientific findings into reality. The portfolio of large-scale research facilities enables end-to-end research and development – from the demonstration of a first prototype in the laboratory right through to testing market-ready products.
Realistic virtual representations of streets and rail transport infrastructures can be used in simulator studies. The virtual reference sections create a framework for the development of new concepts in assistance and automation for road and rail and for subsequent testing in trials. This in turn guarantees the transferability of the research results from the simulation back to reality.
Development processes are continuously supportes by parallel test processes. This begins at specification and continues through the derivation of test cases and test environments and ends with the approval of final hardware and systems. The Institute investigates processes, methods and their concrete implementation in order to optimise test processes. Our research infrastructure is our own high-performance laboratory infrastructure.
