LNAS pilot assistance system enables quieter and more fuel-efficient landing approaches

June 2020 │During more than 90 approaches to Zurich Airport conducted under the leadership of the Swiss SkyLab Foundation, researchers from Empa and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) tested an assistance system that supports pilots via a display during quiet and, at the same time, fuel-efficient approaches.

19. March 2020 │As part of the EU project SENS4ICE (SENSors and certifiable hybrid architectures for safer aviation on ICing Environment), the German Aerospace Center (DLR) is working with 18 international partners to conduct research into icing and its impact on flight characteristics.
New DLR ISTAR research aircraft arrives in Braunschweig

January 2020 │On 31 January 2020, the new DLR ISTAR (In-flight Systems and Technology Airborne Research) aircraft – a modified Falcon 2000LX – flew from the Dassault plant in Bordeaux-Mérignac to its new home at the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) in Braunschweig.
