ALBATROSS

09.03.2023 | The Project ALBATROSS had been shortlisted for one of the Digital European Sky AWARDS from SESAR at the Airspace World in GENEVA 2023. With over 1,000 flight trials, the project showed how to make more energy-efficient trajectories an everyday reality. We came home with the People's Choice Award and thank all those participants who made it possible and also great thanks to the auditory.

Aviation sector starts follow-up sustainable taxiing tests at Schiphol

07.12.2022 | Schiphol and partners have started conducting follow-up sustainable taxiing tests. At the airport, a KLM plane drove from Schiphol-Centre to and from a platform near the Zwanenburgbaan Runway with its engines switched off. This way of taxiing can significantly reduce fuel consumption and therefore CO2, nitrogen and ultrafine particle emissions. This trial run marks the start of various tests with the two semi-robotic taxiing systems that Schiphol purchased earlier this year.

Aviation sector presents sustainable taxiing roadmap

25.10.2021 |The Dutch aviation sector has presented Barbara Visser, demissionary Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, with a roadmap to reduce fuel consumption of taxiing and CO2, nitrogen and (ultra fine) particulate matter significantly at Schiphol. This plan aims to make sustainable taxiing standard procedure at Schiphol by 2030 at the latest. The first step will be the deployment of two special aircraft towing vehicles for a follow-up pilot study at Schiphol mid-2022. If successful, this pilot will transition to a standard procedure, with aircraft taxiing sustainably to and from the Polderbaan runway.
