The collaborative Optimode traffic control center for airports provides essential situational awareness to decision-makers of involved stakeholders going beyond their own resources responsibility. The passenger is the main focus of these management processes.
The control center prototype coordinates the traffic processes for travelers at an airport transfer hub. All relevant planning and real-time data of the transport companies as well as of the travelers themselves converge in the control center. The passenger trajectory was developed as a dynamic documentation of both already-achieved and scheduled milestones along the door-to-door journey specifically for this purpose. Out of the raw data as well as the passenger trajectories, a standardized characteristics structure is extracted, depicting the performance capacity of the entire system. With the help of forecasts, expected values for these parameters are provided for the current day. This enables a parameter-precise decision support whose solution space may be situated several participants away.
Individualized passenger information and infrastructure management
The passenger trajectory defines the fundamental grid points in the travel chain, connected with a temporal orientation, for each individual traveler. For the provision of his information, the traveler receives individualized real-time information and the opportunity of control center-managed connection synchronization. This communication takes place via an automatically-operated interface, on one side of which is the control center infrastructure and on the other side, a mobile device from the traveler.
Demand-orientated use of resources
Using generic object trajectories which form hypotheses based on past situations, infrastructure operators plan the utilization of their resources through the efficient use of personnel and equipment in accordance with the agreed quality criteria. The continuous update of real-time information for individual travelers enhances the situation awareness dynamically. The summation of the individual trajectories results in a macroscopic demand forecast whose infrastructure utilization can be used for transit time calculations and which can be transferred to the individual trajectories. All the trajectories thereby keep each other mutually up-to-date.
Every traveler counts
The Optimode control center enables the management of complex interplay between different tasks and modes of transport in order to achieve optimization objectives which require action across the range of stakeholders. This benefits the individual traveler, as his door-to-door trajectory is constantly the paramount management factor.
The destination is the goal.
This trajectory assists the traveler in finding the most up-to-date and best possible route – in accordance with his preferences and the current traffic situation.
