Macroscopic Simulation of Passenger Flows in the Terminal

9 October 2009

For the landside examination of airports, a system dynamics model is being developed within the project FAMOUS as passenger simulation for the detection and possible elimination of shortages.

 What-If-Kreislauf
zum Bild What-If-Kreislauf

Motivation hereby is the design of a simulation that displays the entire passenger process as flow model from entering the terminal to boarding the plane. Basis for this simulation are real-world flight schedule data which are imported into a relational database and transformed into the system dynamics model format. The simulation results will be evaluated within a what-if cycle, checked for possible bottlenecks and adjusted.
