Indicator System on Global Air Transport Development
The MONITOR Indicator System contains a preliminary set of more than 40 indicators which aim at providing a fast overview on long-term trends in the air transport sector. The Performance Indicators (PIs) describe the development of the main internal measures of the air transport system, whereas the Sustainable Development Indicators (SDIs) describe the development of the interrelation of the air transport system with the three dimensions of sustainability, i.e. the economic, the ecological and the social development (the interchanges between air transport and its surroundings). The following table provides an overview of the separate categories regarded in relation to PIs and SDIs.
